Through the years, G-series irons from PING have garnered a reputation for giving golfers incredible playability and impressive forgiveness, and that’s something that will not be changing with the new G400 irons. In fact, the new G400 irons are arguably the most player friendly G-series irons that PING has ever created, which is lofty praise. Most notably, these are irons that offer incredible distance and launch conditions while still delivering the spin rates that players need to stop the ball on the green. Combining to make that distance possible are PING’s COR-Eye Technology and a new Toprail Undercut Cavity, which work in unison to help the clubface flex more at impact for increased ball speed and higher launch. Additionally, thanks to the use of Hyper 17-4 Stainless Steel, the G400’s clubface is 40 percent thinner when compared to the G iron, which also contributes to ball speed increases. Also of note, a concealed Custom Tuning Port has been implemented into the design to increase perimeter weighting for enhanced forgiveness, while a full cavity badge produces improved acoustics and feel at impact. And finally, the G400’s Hydropearl chrome finish, in addition to offering elegant aesthetics, provides 40 percent less friction to deliver more consistent results in wet conditions or from difficult lies in the rough. The stock shaft options for the G400 irons are the AWT 2.0 steel or the lightweight Alta CB graphite. PING, however, is offering several popular aftermarket shafts at no upcharge to fit the needs of players who need a different shaft profile.

PING’s proprietary Ascending Weight Technology shafts get heavier as they progress from long irons to short irons/wedges. Lighter long-iron shafts help square the clubface to increase clubhead speed for distance and accuracy. Short iron/wedge shafts are heavier for improved trajectory control and feel.
